A beautiful bespoke home created in response to the existing Grade II listed structure
Working with older buildings requires patience, creativity and a flexible approach. They tell a story of the journey they have been on with different inhabitants over the years, and as a grade II listed farmhouse, Low House Farm had plenty of stories to share.

Project Details
Parts of the existing roof structure were unfortunately beyond repair after years of moisture and insect damage so replacement timbers were sourced locally and installed. The difference between new and old was highlighted throughout the building, adding another layer to the farmhouse’s story. Through years of experience working with heritage properties, Stephen Grindrod LTD was able to find creative solutions, showing respect to the existing structure where alteration to the design was required.
Detail
Alongside the structural timber work and detailed joinery, the external walls were replastered with an insulating hemp-lime plaster beautifully detailed around the timber features. Where appropriate, an insulated limecrete floor was installed on the ground floor.
